
David Sterling
Memphis, TN
David Sterling, a partner with Sterling Solutions, is responsible for practice management as well as project management initiatives in its logistics and distribution practice. He has more than 25 years experience in finance and supply chain management from both a consulting and industry perspective. His multidisciplinary background provides an excellent perspective which he has leveraged in several areas across the supply chain. Over the last several years, David has especially focused in the areas of distribution and network design, transportation management and distribution strategies. His focus on distribution management system design has incorporated optimal mixes of third party logistics providers from multiple supply chain areas, as well as internal company-managed solutions. He has performed supply chain management work throughout several industries, including transportation, telecommunications, consumer products, food service, manufacturing and service industries.
David's background was greatly impacted during the early part of his career through eight years of management experience with supply chain industry leader, Federal Express. As the leader of the internal consulting group, David was responsible for identifying long-term improvement processes throughout the entire FedEx global network and addressing critical issues impacting FedEx operations. His responsibilities included leading initiatives to address service issues in Asia, Europe and throughout the U.S. A key element of his responsibilities also included development of operational risk management initiatives throughout the world. Because of the wide-ranging impact of the group’s work, his scope of responsibilities included regular interaction with FedEx senior executive management.
David's experience also includes five years at consulting leader, Cap Gemini/Ernst & Young, where as a member of executive management, he led comprehensive supply chain engagements for major corporate clients. His focus industry segments included telecommunications, utilities, transportation and distribution. In addition, David was a member of the Global Sourcing and Suppler Management Committee which developed leading edge strategies for client projects. His major responsibilities included sales, client management, and project delivery for millions of dollars of revenue on an annual basis.
David’s consulting experience includes dozens of projects with clients representing a diverse group of industries. David holds an MBA from Christian Brothers University and is certified as a CPA (inactive) in the State of Tennessee. He began his career as a CPA for Deloitte Touche, where he spent nearly three years. David is also very active in civic and church ministry organizations. He currently serves as the chairman of the board of trustees at Evangelical Christian School, a large multi-campus private school in the Memphis area. His board responsibilities include chairing the Strategic Planning Committee and serving on the Executive Committee. David is very active in his church, Bellevue Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Bible Study teacher and neighborhood Bible study leader. He and his family have also participated in leading Sunday services at a local assisted care living center for the past eight years.

Nick Pacitti
Cleveland, Ohio
Nick Pacitti, a partner with Sterling Solutions, is responsible for project management and improvement initiatives in its food safety and logistics practice. As a seasoned Supply Chain Executive, Nick has over 25 years of extensive experience in designing, developing and delivering logistics improvement strategies and solutions. His experience and strengths include distribution network design through balancing manufacturing, warehousing and transportation strategies and technologies in optimizing assets while improving service and cost performance.
Nick’s industry and senior management experience with Kraft and Nestle provides a true practitioner’s perspective in executing operations improvement and revenue enhancement initiatives. During his tenure with Kraft and Nestle, Nick was selected as a management development instructor teaching mid and senior level managers throughout the world.
His successes include design and reengineering initiatives for a host of food operations in improving, product quality, service and cost performance. As a veteran in supply and cold chain management and new business ventures, Nick has worked on several major projects ranging from distribution and plant consolidations, new product launches, DSD operations and its use as a strategic lever, Third Party Logistics (3PL) outsourcing strategies and partnerships, operations integration of acquisitions along with food defense initiatives. Nick also served as an executive in residence for Ernst & Young Management Consulting group and several Third Party Logistics Providers such as Penske and Ryder Logistics. Nick has been able to develop flexible and resilient supply chains that are in conformance with various government and industry guidance programs.
In the past several years Nick has been involved in over 70 consulting projects where cost improvements and overall supply chain enhancements have saved firms millions of dollars and just as importantly have saved retailers and their suppliers hundreds of millions in margin improvement. A sample listing of clients include, M&M/Mars, McLane, Subway, Dole, Fresh Express, Wawa Food Markets, Hormel/Diamond Crystal Brands, George Weston Bakeries, High Liner Foods, Purina Mills, Pillsbury, Fleming Foods, Shaws Supermarkets, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, Kraft Foods, Lindt & Sprüngli, Lucite, Pfizer Specialty Minerals, Storck-Werthers Candies, West Lynn Creamery and a host of others.
Nick holds two Masters Degrees, an MBA from The Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University and an MA from Kent State University. An undergraduate degree was award Magna cum Laude from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA. Nick’s industry credentials include certifications by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics and the Private Fleet management Institute of the National Private Truck Council.
Nick is currently Chairman of the Food Marketing Institute’s Cold Chain Technical Advisory Council. In this role Nick is responsible for developing and guiding the development of cold chain standards and practices for the industry in concert with leading retailers, foodservice operators, processors and logistics providers throughout the world. These standards will assist firms to achieve the globally recognized SQF certification. The SQF certification is provided to those firms that achieve the highest standard for food safety and quality.
In addition to his industry roles, Nick has also received the Wong Moss Outstanding Alumni Award and serves on the Board of Advisors for Delaware County Community College (Pennsylvania). Nick is a seasoned high school and college football official. He has been selected from throughout the U.S. to referee in the 2006 McDonald’s USA vs. Ohio Champions tournament and the 2007 Burger King USA vs. Ohio Champions.
